Asa Frankowski BR200 Section 01 Brain Cancer Treatment Abstract: Brain cancer is the formation of a tumor or intracranial neoplasm abnormalities in the brain. The two main types of tumors are malignant or cancerous tumors and benign tumors. The spreading of cancer to other parts of the body is called metastasis. Detection of brain cancer is typically done using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and confirmed by biopsy. The class of the tumor falls into different categories and treatment is determined by the severity of the tumor. Although the cause of brain cancer is still mostly a mystery there are several risk factors that increase your chance of developing brain cancer: a hereditary condition known as neurofibromatosis, chemical exposure, Epstein-Barr virus and ionizing radiation. Although not proven it is believed that talking on the phone may increase the chances of brain cancer. Brain tumors are treated based on their size, location, type and severity of the tumor. Typically the tumor is removed in surgery and then the patient goes through ra diation treatment. Early detection of a tumor greatly increases the odds that a patient will recover. The radiation kills cancerous cells at the same time it kills healthy cells. Because the healthy cells are also dying the effects off therapy are dangerous. The patients experience many side effects. To What Extent did the South Kill Reconstruction? Reconstruction was a time of great change for the now-unified United States. It started in 1865, coinciding with the Union win of the Civil War. Reconstruction is defined as ‘the process by which the states that had seceded were reorganized as part of the Union after the Civil War.† This means that the Northern states were given the task of trying to decide what to do with the states that left the Union before the war. Deciding what to do with these states sparked lots of debate. So much debate that it split the northern population into different groups. Radical Republicans fought for the rights of freedmen and believed that South should pay for the damage they caused. The Radicals were not interested in taking the South back with open arms. One of the Radicals’ proposed laws was to take large chunks of ex-confederate land and sharing it with freed slaves and non-wealthy whites. With that being said, the majority o f the Northern population were Moderate in their stance on Reconstructing. Moderates were not for the distributing of land to African-Americans in the South because they believed that blacks would get complacent and not want to contribute to the economy in their various states. Schindler’s character is one of the most interesting aspects throughout the film. Mainly because it seemed very hard to characterize Schindler with concrete adjectives. The film is constantly making the viewer question what type of man Oskar Schindler is. In the beginning, he appears to care only about money and seems particularly interested in using his position within the Nazi party to further his drive for wealth/personal pleasures. He’s depicted with somewhat of an ignorant tone, almost as if he doesn’t ever stop and think about the Nazi party’s destructive nature. This is shown early in the film when Schindler is at the Nazi gathering trying to seduce the officer’s female companion. He doesn’t appear to acknowledge the fact that he’s†¦show more content†¦He seems to be cautious at first with Schindler when they first meet and Schindler proposes his plan for an enamel factory. Throughout the film though, I think Stern sees that Schindler is saving people and understands that he can be of use in this process. He goes along with Schindler because he sees the hope that Schindler presents. At one point he states â€Å"The list is life† when discussing Oskar’s plan to buy the Jews from Goth. He understands what Schindler is trying to do and supports him. Having the support of a close friend I think sped up the process of Oskar’s transformation. Being close to a Jew pushed Schindler to face the horrors of the war and act accordingly, resulting in the savior of hundreds. For this reason, I would say that he is just as important as Schindler. I think Schindler’s relationship with Goth is purely one of manipulation. Schindler is using goth, as he is using the entire Nazi party, to get what he wants. It’s clear that he doesn’t agree with Goth and he even tries to convince him not to kill anyone else in a late-night conversation. When Schindler defends Goth, I don’t think he’s truthfully defending Goth, but rather making an excuse for all the wrong that’s occurring in the world, specifically what he himself is doing. He realizes that on the outside it just appears as if he’s a slave-labor profiteer. If you look deeper, however, you’ll find a man that isn’t all that bad. I think he feels guilty for his

In contrast to individuals with dependent personality disorder, histrionics are not passively loyal to one source of security, putting their fate in the hands of others but actively seek reinforcements and esteem from multiple sources avoiding the constant jeopardy of losing security. They acquire friends easily with their apparent care and warmth, but also abandon them fast if they cease to be objects susceptible to their manipulative style. With time, histrionics develop a sensitivity to the moods and thoughts of those they wish to please and their hyperalertness enables them to quickly assess what maneuvers will succeed in attaining the ends they desire (Millon, 1981). This â€Å"other-directedness† turns into a life-style full of emotional and behavioral fickleness and results in capricious pattern of personal relationships (Millon, 1981). Behavioral appearances of histrionics usually range from affected in milder variations to theatrical in severely pathological forms. Women usually appear seductive and flirtatious while men often appear charming (Millon, 1985). They spend a considerable amount of money on clothes and grooming in order to look desirable and attractive. Bornstein (1998) has found that more attractive HPD women had a more varied and supportive social network, exhibited more negative behaviors in important relationships, and showed greater use of immature defenses, and less reliance on image-distorting, self-sacrificing, and mature defenses. Physical attractiveness seems to be more central to the interpersonal dynamics of HPD women than in men. Researchers suggest that males use alternative social influence strategies to obtain gratification from others such as verbal intimidation rather than pseudo-sexual seductions (Bornstein, 1998). Some other theorists have suggested that in men, histrionic tendencies are often expressed indirectly, taking the form of antisocial traits rather than overt histrionic behaviors (Bornstein, 1998). Both females and males produced similar results in link between attractiveness and using immature defense styles. Also, both men and women often display an interesting mixture of being carefree and sophisticated, on the one hand, and inhibited and naive, on the other. In the sphere of sexuality, for example they are quite at ease while â€Å"playing the game† but become confused, immature, or apprehensive once the matter gets serious (Millon, 1981).
